What will they know? Students will know the relationship formed caused by changes in ancient cultures. Students will know the characteristics of language, architecture, government, religion, and everyday life of the ancient cultures. Students will know how one culture influenced each other. Students will know how cultures influenced mathematics.
What will they understand? Students will understand that ancient cultures affected the culture we experience today. Students will understand that our language, government, science, and mathematical methods have evolved from ancient cultures. Students will understand that ancient cultures influenced contemporary ways of life.
What will they be able to do? The students will be able to read, understand and construct timelines of ancient history. Students will be able to explain the different forms of government in ancient cultures and identify how those elements are present in today’s governmental structures. Students will be able to identify the elements borrowed from ancient languages. Students will be able to locate empires and countries on a map. Students will be able to recognize the relationship of current issues and events as they are related to ancient cultures and histories.
